Hi

I'm looking at replacing my corsa (I've posted about this before but I'm considering all options first) and will have around 4-5k to spend after september.

I've been looking at all kinds of cars, first quick ones (Celica GT4s, Preludes, 200SXs) all which I fancy but today I found myself looking at lexus IS200s, alfa 156s - which can be had for around 6-7k. I love the e39 5 series with sports pack but I doubt I'll get a decent one for this cash.

I'll be 21 w/0 NCB in september so insurance is still a little bit of an issue (as a guideline I'm getting £1600 quotes on Celica GT4 fully comp) but any suggestion a bit out of the norm would be nice!

I'm a student (I've just got myself an internship at a big investment bank in london over summer ...hence the funds) so want something a bit more than a Clio 172. Something a bit special thou not necessarily that quick (that'd be a bonus).

You won't, but what you can do is buy an SE and fit the Sport bodykit yourself. With pre-facelift SE's it's actually really easy becuase all you need is the front and rear bumper, a set of alloys and a lip spoiler.

Ok that's worth bearing in mind. Very cheap example there - 15k miles on a 9 year old car - lots of small trips I'm guessing.

As I said, it's quite a long time off so I'm more looking for ideas rather than examples.

You also need the exhaust as the stock one that points down will look silly sticking out of the opening in the rear bumper.

Here you go.

As above.. Alfa GTV. Friend has the 2.0 Twin spark, and he is really impressed with it, bought it for £3500 and spent £1000 on spark plugs, cam belt etc etc etc, its now in perfect condition. Got a real sporty feel to it although I found the ride in his quite harsh. He is 21 with 1 year NCB, payuing 600 for insurance, however he was later kicking himself when he found out that the 3.0 v6 could be insured for just £50 more. So that could be worth looking into.

also the only thing unusual about an alfa is if you get one that works :p

how about a lexus soarer?

Got anymore info on that? specs? (out of interest where do you guys get the specs for cars - is there a central website apart from carstats.co.uk?)

Galant VR4!

£5000 gets a nice saloon with 260/280bhp and 4wd... not to mention AYC and all the gubbins.

Wooo00!

That I LOVE! £5000 you say? I thought they were a bit more than that.

Club website looks good - The "For Sale" section private though? How do they intend to get more members?

Where else is there apart from autotrader for rarer cars? Anywhere significant?
