Hey 8 Pack

I wonder can you help me help me achieve 4.8ghz or 5ghz with my ivybridge??
max i can get (stable is 4.6ghz)
using: antec kuhler 920
temps under load around 65 degrees

help me 8 pack ! lol

pm please

other info:

4.6ghz

ai overclock tuner xmp
bclk 100
asus multicore enabled
turbo ratio manual
ratio synced at 46
cpu pll overvoltage auto
internal pll overvoltage auto
memory frequency ddr3 1600mhz

cpu voltage offset mode + 0.035
dram 1.5
cpu pll voltage 1.63750

cpu load line calbration ultra high
cpu power phase control extreme
cpu current capability 140%

Hyper Threading enabled

stable at 4.6.

your help appreciated master jedi :0)

p.s..... my temps suggest I can afford a little more of an overclock as i am only getting around 65 degrees under load. what do you think?

Ok lets go for 4.8ghz first and see how that goes. I think with DDR1600 this should be very achievable.

Lets get your ancillary Voltages set up first. VCCSA Stock on Ivy is 1.1v just set this and leave alone. Its the system agent and effects overclocking at this level very little.

VCCIO is the IMC voltage and as your running 1600mhz no more than 1.05 which is stock should be needed. 1.05 with most chips is enough for 2133 or 2400mhz although with 24GB of ram you may need more VCCIO for high frequency stuff. Can I ask why your running 24gb??? your not getting dual channel operation with that much RAM and loosing RAM bandwidth.

PLL you say you have 1.635 have you tuned this ??? if so great!!! Chips that like lower PLL are usually the better clockers and by tuning PLL you can get either higher MHZ for the same Vcore or lower Vcore for the same mhz should you be looking to keep temps in check.

I would Enable Internal PLL for Overclocking and then try offset + 0.045. Then test and also note temps and what the actual voltage under load is being applied.

Report back!!!!

Hi 8 Pack

Thanks for your reply. I do a lot of audio and video processing on my machine. I have a dual boot of OSX and windows 7. So its for gaming and music production, this is why I thought it was better to have 24gb ram lol

So I set the VCCSA voltage to 1.1, it then turns it to a red colour, is that correct?
I cannot see the setting for VCCIO? what should i do?

I will try the offset of 0.045 and report back.

stay tuned :)

Watching with interest. I've always been mystified by the "other" voltage settings, so getting to know exactly what PLL and VCCIO voltages do is very helpful.

Hi 8 Pack

Im currently running a stability test under aida64. 17 mins and counting.

I have the VCCSA set to 1.1 (red) should I change?

PLL is the processors phase lock loop. In terms of clocking SB-E, Ivy and SB like a certain PLL and if you find it you can often bring down Vcore for a certain frequency.

I would try 1.55 - 165 and then 1.85-1.90 with these CPU and test your results. #

The other voltages can indeed be confusing as depending on the platform they mean different things.
