Hi there,

What DDR2 2GB RAM shall I purchase out of these four?

If you know any better alternative, no more than £165 incl. vat. then please let me know.

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Special Ops XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2SOE8002GK) (MY-071-OC) Price: £139.95 (£164.44 Including VAT at 17.5%)

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL) Total £Price: £124.95 (£146.82 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-092-CS) Price: £114.99 (£135.11 Including VAT at 17.5%)

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR) (MY-014-GS) Price: £129.99 (£152.74 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I only have a few days before some of the deals run out, so please can you help me decide which one will be the best to purchase.

Many thanks for your kind help!

I would go with the Geil. But that's because it is what I bought.

And its ORANGE! Oh yes. Can't beat that. :)

One thing is with the Geil you will have to set the RAM to the right speeds in the BIOS. But even I managed that so I am sure you can.

.. Oh and maybe tell us your mobo, dunno if there are any compatability issues...

I have two, but the computer I need it for is the Gigabyte GA-8N-SLi Deluxe (Quad SLi) If that code doesn't make sence, it's because that mobo is no longer made lol :D

BTW thanks for your help :)

After looking at the THG website, is the Geil RAM best out of those four for OC'ing?

Ahh! I am very disappointed now, the goods were dispatched on the 30th and I did not receive them today. :(

It's after 8pm and I checked the link provided in the dispatch email for city link (for the next day delivery) and the consignment does not exist...great...

Sent a message to gibbo and also created a webnote....sigh...I feel like an idiot for paying for next day delivery...and i'm even more of an idiot to trust a dispatch notice and take a day off work just for it...guess I have to wait till the weekend...

THat is EXACTLY what happened to me... i called OCUK and they said apparently there might be something wrong with the packing slip and that i should get my order cancelled and order again... I ordered again today in the morning and it still wasnt dispatched for tomorrow...i dont know whats going on but i had to order it for the third time for monday delivery...however have paid 3 times..lets see when the refunds come in..definitely a bad day... Gibbo any inside info? Delivery problems?

"Our WebNotes are usually answered within 4 business hours with a reply straight to your inbox."

That's not true. Definately should put longer than that...

As for status of my problem..still no further news or email, tried phoning OcUK and the telephone lines are engaged.

This is definately my worst moment so far with OcUK...usually..they are very good and deliver goods on time and even have people to pick the phone up....now im very disappointed.

EDIT=
3:16 pm and still engaged. Becoming more of a fly by night operation hour by hour...

Dear Mr XXXXXX

There are two possible reasons for this, either the packing label was missing/damaged or the parcel got lost before it reached the sorting depot. We will need to wait until Monday to be sure as it should be returned to us then if it is merely a problem with the label.

There are 2.5 working hours left...why wait till Monday to contact them? I phoned City link CS and they do not recollect collecting any parcel/package for me.

Looks like i'm going to get a refund (if the telephone lines actually work!!!), no way im paying extra for a next day delivery cost which will potentially take over 4 days to get to me.

I'm really really losing confidence in OcUK.

join the club... im waiting for 2 similar refunds to come through...whats strange is that i have ordered half a dozen times before and this has never happened...i dunno whats wrong...

Some further updates: I finally managed to get through to customer service wohoooo! And I spoke to him about the order, and it seems that it was not picked up by city link on Wednesday and it has just been picked up today .

Here is something important to note to everyone who buys from OcUK here is a bit of the conversation I had with CS:

ME: "I paid for next day delivery, why wasn't it delivered the next day after I received the dispatch notice with the city link tracker?"

CS: "The next day delivery that you pay for does not mean you are guaranteed next day delivery"

ME: "But you have three different delivery types, I paid for a Monday to Friday delivery, I expect that if I purchase something on Wednesday, I would receive it on Thursday or given that there are problems, latest on Friday? Why doesn't my order ship when you send a shipping confirmation with a city link code?"

CS: "All three delivery types are the same, they are all next day delivery, City link have picked up your order today and you will receive it on Monday"

ME: "So regardless of the price differences, it's the same service?"

CS: "yes"

That's it. I put the phone down after discussing how to claim a refund if it doesn't arrive on Monday (via webnote), and why the city link code didn't work.

Yeah I know...unfortunately it's true. :( I also see their viewpoint, as they can't control the actions of City Link for example...but still, you pay for a service...you expect some sort of compensation when you're not given it.

Anyways, some better news, finally the City Link code works! Hurrah, and the order has finally reached the depot, and has a target delivery date of Monday. *crosses fingers and toes* hopefully nothing will happen to it during transit.
