4 fans running stand alone

Can it be done? Im thinking of cutting a square on top of a desk to put 4 fans in with a cover on top for cooling a laptop. There's a drawer underneath so im thinking of putting a battery in there to power the fans. Is this possible? If so what sort of battery would I need?

Not interested in one of those laptop cooling stands.

a 12v battery would work

Your battery wouldn't last very long running four fans. I'd use a 12v 1A (or thereabouts) AC wall adaptor. You could get a 9v one if you fancied the fans running slower. You may already have a suitable adaptor kicking about somewhere that would do the job. A lead acid type battery would also need a charger of some kind and those can be expensive.

You could also install a simple switch would allow you to switch the fans on and off, or have them come on only when the laptop is running if you can figure out the circuit needed.

Or you can just buy a laptop cooler which is designed to do this and then you can take it with you.
