4 fps in COD2 1800XT

Haven'y played cod2 for a while so cant comment on fps but your 3d mark score is about right for stock speeds. Ignore the 594/693 in CCC thats the 2d speeds the 'requested speed' are the 3d ones. Your card should handle the sliders maxed out in Overdrive, mine does easily and I havn't heard of any that don't.
The fact that you've had an nVidia card could cause problems. Make sure all traces of the nVidia drivers are totaly removed.

thanks for the replys guys :)
well pcie is selected in bios, i uninstalled ATI tray and installed CCC and FPS went up to 45-60 with quality settings in driver panel, i have tried to unistall the AGP driver but it reinstalls after a restart, i have used the ULI 220 drivers for MB drivers, gonna retry running 3dmark 05 to check.

Thanks

Ninja

EDIT: just unistalled ATI driver CCC and run driver cleaner pro in safe mode, then installed MB drivers then ATI driver and WDM nothing else so far
COD texture settings are all set to high , just checked the IRQ is 25 is thatok?
EDIT 2: well graphics looked bitmapped so uninstalled ati tray tools and installed CCC and seems fine so far no bitmapped images in COD2

I see this far to often! some one buys a new gfx card & switches brand & installs 3rd party gfx drivers/utils & wonders why they have a problem when they dont even know how to set up or use the features of the card with the official drivers/utils making the process of elimination that much harder & lengthy,& look! taking out atitraytools got rid of 80% of your problems by the looks of it.

Always! use the official stuff first to see that all is working well before useing 3rd part stuff unless you really know what your doing & fully undestand the 3rd party SW your useing.

I have used ATI tray tools & i had problem with it & i knew it was the problem as soon as i installed it because i used the official stuff first, i will try again when some of the bugs have been sorted for the 1900xt cards and i understand it better.

anybody else

Yep, me too. :(

I'm getting about 7fps with my sapphire x1800xt 256 at 1024x768, no AA. Strange thing is it used to run much faster, between 40 and 60 fps.

I was playing oblvion the other day and that was running at abput 50 fps in the hills and at 1280x1024, so it's not completely broke.

I don't have ATi tray tools installed so it can't be that causing the problem. I'll try installing the latest CCC and see if that helps.

ehh? why play with dx7 for? better off running the game at 640x480 in dx9 mode.

Somebody obviously hasn't played CoD2 ;).

Another reason to go DX7 in CoD2 is because in DX9 sometimes you get a big disadvantage with the extra effects such as snow you have to see past but the shadows do help.

Oh yeh and Final-by I hope you didnt buy that system very recently with Conroe out now.

I put it together over Jan/feb/mar/apr & very happy with it, but if i had built it now it would be a Conroe job & would have saved about £800 with the price drops of the cpu`s & gfx cards.

ahh i haven;t played it online though. still playing the single player missions.
but surly there is some kind of lock down for online gaming, such as battlefield 2 you have to have ps1.4 to play the game so it can do those effects where stuff gets blurry when hit by grenades etc.

one last thing this morning i checked the IRQ for the card it was on IRQ25 is this ok?

Ninja

Check whether its not conflicting with any other devices i.e its not sharing irq's

EDIT: I do recommend a full windows install tho normally fixes most of my software probs etc.

there were no conflicts or sharing of IRQ for the ati card, i think it was just because when i had my 6800GT (AGP) it was on IRQ 16. I just thought it was worth asking thanks for that :)
as far as a fresh install it was only done 2 weeks ago.

thought id add my experiences with a 7600GT just to compare....

MP cod2 dx7 max settings 1280*1024 @ /com_maxfps 125 <- i like it constant, if i take limit off i get from 150 to 400 fps, it varies all the time.

SP cod2 dx9 max settings pretty much 50 to 90 fps, usualy around 50 - 70 with the odd high of 90 or so. totally smooth and playable.

not to make this a cod2 thread but there are many advantages in dx7 multiplayer as some will know. and with such intense competition you cant let your team down just for some extra textures
