Ok so visited my local games store today seen nothing interesting on the new releases so had a look at the bargin shelves.

Came away with the following 4 games for £25

Stalker
Civ 4
Dark Messiah
Battle for middle earth 2

Considering i havent played any of them whats the general advice. (im guessing civ4 will soak up the easter weekend well but im quite partial to FPS so my gut is with stalker)

Stalker had a lot of potential but in the end was average
Civ4 is amazing and will take as much free time as u can throw at it... including wasted time on things such as sleeping and eating
never played dark messiah
battle for middle earth is cool, bit simple but fun enough

Dark Messiah is a play once, never play again game, but it's a hoot; so I'd play that first. Any game which enables you to kick bad guys onto spikes or over the edge of cliffs has my vote.

WHAAA????

I loved that game.
I have to admit though, i hated the first 30minutes of gameplay... but once i got under its skin... i loved it.
finished it twice with all 3 diff ends :)
cant wait for STALKER 2

I only just picked up STALKER about 2 weeks ago after avoiding it hearing so many poor reviews and people saying they were let down by it etc. I'am thoroughly enjoying it. I got it for £5.I'm playing it in 1920x1200 with all the bells and whistles on, appart from the dynamic lighting, looks better with this on but chuggs on my sys.

I must say it is a very atmospheric game. There are some noticeable bugs but for me the game quality is fantastic, well worth the money I paid. I would have been happy paying 25-30 quid for it.

Also BFME II is a quality RTS game, I cannot comment on the others having not played them. I still play BFME II it comes into it's own online adversial or COOP.

Stalker -- Tried on 3-4 seperate occasions installing and having a go at this... each time within 10 minutes I ran to my add/remove programs to destroy the boredom causer before it destroyed me.

CivIV -- Muchos fun game, if you can pick up Beyond the Sword you will be set for a lot of hours parked infront of your screen clicking through human history on your quest to sabotage any prospects and relationships your real life holds.

Dark Messiah -- Someone mentioned, its a throw away game, you won't hate it playing it, its a lot quite fun to burn through but there is nothing that will make you ever want to play it again.

BFME2 -- I thought it was a lot of fun, big step up from the first outing, felt much more balanced... worth playing just to listen to the LOTR soundtrack over and over (which this game is caked in).

I got Stalker + Supreme Commander for £15 at weekend, what a bargain.

Enemy Territory for £10 though, seemed a bargain, but played 10 mintues before i realised the gameplay was in the 1990's along with the graphics.

Stalker is an odd game. Picked it up for £5 so i wasn't really expecting much.. Installed, wondered around outside for 10 minutes, thought i'de made a mistake.

Then you go inside, and you get to see all the pretty lighting. Which rekindled hope.

Now im probabaly just over an hour and a half into the game and it's genuinely fun. Getting a better hang of the rpg/fps style gameplay, which yes can lead it to be slow at times, but if you have am artifact that increases endurance, you can usually give it legs everywhere :D

If you've played it for ten minutes and hated it, i would give it a little more time. Doesn't throw you straight into it, but it gets there imo.

I didn't understand Stalker at all. I got as far as helping those dudes hold their ground in the car park (I think it was a car park anyway :o), then after that I just died randomly while walking around. I just didn't know where to go or what to do. :(

I suck at gaming. :/

First thing i did was patch it, i do it with all games nowadays. There's so much competition and money involved in the industry now that developers push games out as fast as they can with the idea of patching them later. Beta is the new Gold.
