4 gig kit, 2x2 gig sticks

If it's an Intel with a multiplier of 8 or higher any bog standard PC2-6400 will do the job marvelously. The Geil PC2-6400C4 on sale this week would be a nice choice for £35.24 inc VAT.

if you want 4x1 £70.48 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

it would depend on how much or if you intend to OC and also your CPU. The 2 x 2gb modules do not Over clock as well as an individual 1gb module. But, they can typically run up to about DDR900 or so. So, if you are Over clocking at a 1:1 ratio, you should be able to go to about a 450mhz FSB which is good for most CPUs these days. If you want to Over Clock using the memory dividers, then you may get a better top RAM speed from 4 x 1gb modules.

I wont be going over 400 FSB, so PC 5300/5400 should be fine really.

I can not use 4x1gig sticks as my mobo refuses to accept this, apparently its a problem. I have another post about this, which is why I was going the 2x2gig route.

Got you, just read up on your previous posts maybe these modules then. The 2 x 2gb modules do not Over clock as well as an individual 1gb module. But, they can typically run up to about DDR900 or so. The modules in my sig are rated at PC2-8000 (DDR-1000) so no need to overclock :)

PC 8000 is too expensive as its overspeed for my setup.

What 6400 is good? theres all this reaper stuff coming out, is that any cop?

Rodders - could you please let me know how you get on with 2*2gb stick please :)

I'm looking at the same upgrade.

From the review provided on the OCZ website these won't do much over 700Mhz so will seriously limit your oc especially on 965P mobos since the lowest divider you can use is 1:1 (correct if wrong).

Will seriously suggest putting an extra fiver for the 2x 2Gb OCZ PC6400C5 on this week only.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention regarding the mentioned OCZ modules

Well I've just pre-ordered a 4gb pack from a competitor (corsair 2*2gb) for £93. I really hope it works :/

I gotta try get my ram working now. Its not the new ram sticks that were to can not RMA for a refund.

Its my older sticks, so RMA'd to the manufacture for replacement.

so I either sell it all on second hand and make a loss and buy 2x2gig or get the 4x1gig sticks working in my board somehow?!?!?!
