4 gigs, but I only have 32 bit OSs.

If you can afford 4GB of RAM surely you can afford a proper 64 bit OS.

You wouldn't buy a super car and then only fill a quarter of the tank of fuel up.

You need to unlock the true performance of your system!

There is a way to get a 32bit OS to see and use more, forgot how its done now though, i'll have to see if i can find the page about it again. It does involve a lot of registery hacking though iirc.

But basicly stick it in the system, u will be using more then if u had 2gb, so its not wasted as such, and down the line get 64bit version.

Even with PAE you won't be able to use the full 4GB as some of the physical address space with be reserved for other devices (graphics card, PCI bus, BIOS, etc) which the OS has no control over. This is the limit of 32-bit address space so you'll need to upgrade to a 64-bit OS.

Don't use PAE, it will significantly increase memory latency and slow your machine, better to put up with 3G* than 4G with PAE. If you really want more than 3G get a 64bit OS as other have said.

* Typically a 32 bit OS can address up to 4G without PAE, but this includes graphics memory and other caches, so you'll often see as little as 3G available.

dont need to edit the registry, u just edit your boot record and enable more ram.

however, no mater what u do, u'll never get 4gb, as part of the ram is reserved for the OS.

3.5gb is about the best ur gonna get really
