Hi, with memory prices going up now, would it be better to upgrade from 4 to 8 gig? running DDR2 pc8500+, Q6600 , would there be any benefits at all ?

There is a small benefit, but with the current pricing it's not worth it. When I got 8Gb it was a no brainer, 4Gb cost £30 odd then. At todays pricing I wouldn't have bothered.

Only gaming and just general use, only realy thinking about future proofing, don't want the expense of upgrading in a year or so.

The only way you can determine if you need more capacity is by monitoring the page file activity. If this is used more significantly even under light load then it may be worth while looking at upgrading to more RAM but i doubt this will make much difference for the type of usage and system you have..

IMO you will be fine with 4GB for a at least the next few years i cant ever see a need for 8GB in gaming.

Plus with lots of things the price of memory has gone up loads but there will prob (keeping fingers crossed) the time when the price comes down as well

I remember people saying that in relation to 2GB to 4GB :D
