Lost!
I'm after an AP - it needs to have 4 ports so i can connect all the devices lurking around my desk to my wireless network.

I only run a 802.11g network and i use WPA-PSK security so it must support those and preferrably be as cheap as possible!!

Any suggestions??

Silly question, can't you just connect a small switch to the access point?

Failing that I beleive you can use custom firmware on many cheapish routers to turn them into wireless access points (I think the svensoft firmwares have that sort of option on some versions).

Firstly what you want is a wireless bridge, not an AP.

Easiest hassle free way to do this without spending large amounts of money would be to buy a Linksys WRT54GL from here (circa £40) and flash it with Tomato firmware and run it in wireless bridge mode.

Id rather not go the route of adding a switch to an AP as i dont own either and dont want extra boxes, cables or plugs to deal with.

Why do i want a bridge not an AP???

Because you already have an existing wireless network that you wish to be able to connect wired devices to?

Therefore you want a bridge.

Wireless Network -> WIFI Bridge -> Hardwire devices

Fairly simple really.

Unless that is not what you're after in which case you may wish to reword your original post as from the way I've read it that is what you are trying to achieve.

That is what im trying to achieve but google returns many devices that claim to be both, or confuse the terms even from the manufacturers themselves.
