Thinking of going AM2 or conroe ( probably AM2 unless the conroe boards come down a bit ).

Anyhow, im planning to get 1Gb now ( geil value DDR2 1Gb kit ) and then getting another gig when ive flogged the 939 stuff.

So will they work with 4 sticks?

Intel are fine with 4 sticks as the memory controller is on the northbridge (chipset) but AM2 may very well still have the flaw as AMD, whilst memory controllers are getting better all the time, I believe that there will still be issues with 4 sticks.

There is also the disadvantage that you will be limited by the slowest stick and the chance of a slow stick is bigger when you have four sticks.

And also the stress on the controller will be greater with four sticks.

Use 4 stick of 512mb in my P4 setup no problem, their even two different brands but same speed and timings. Great for fast loading and hogging vehicles in BF2 :p
