4 sticks or 2

I just got hold of some ddr550 ram (2x512mb sticks)

my question is if i add this too my two sticks of geil value ddr400 making a total of 2GIG ram i guess there will be a performance hit would i be better off just pulling out the ram and running the two sticks of ddr550

atm my system is running with a fsb of 250 on a 4000+ single core A64 but the ram is clocked down to 166mhz(200mhz) obviously the 550 will run at 200mhz(250mhz) on a 1:1 will this be the better option and at 1T rather than 2T with four sticks

basically i dont have the time to test all this out so i was hopeing to get some advice

2x1Gb sticks is prederrable, but the performance hit of 4 sticks at 2T is pretty mjuch offset by the gains of having twice the RAM, especially in games

i tried out all combinations and tbh 4x512mb sticks makes company of heroes load in 1/3 the time it took with just a gig plus there is no longer any hdd thrashing and c&c3 is just a dream to play now aswell
