Hi folks

My Zalman fan has started to play up, stopping, starting, going slow etc (esp during the first 10 minutes or so). Bad connections have been ruled out & I suspect the fan is fine. The fan cable & plug have 4 connections, the only other sockets on the motherboard are 3-pin. I also have a spare 3-pin fan controller....

Can I connect the fan direct to the 12v to confirm the motherboard is at fault ?, which wires if so. How about the 3-wire fan controller, which of the 4 fan connections do I connect to the 3 of the controller output ?

Regards..

Yellow is 12v, black is ground so they are power definatly, green is RPM and Blue is the PWM signal i believe.

just to point out if you connect to a mollex cable they are as follows

yellow: v
blacks ground
red 5v

make sure to connect to the right grounds otherwise it wont power up. you need to connect to the nearest black cable of the voltage you wish to use ^^
