Apolages if this has been asked before, it most likely has, but I couldnt find any reference to it.

Does anybody know why using 4 sticks of 512mb DDR400 only runs as DDR333 upon booting up.
If I take 2 out it does DDR400. So either set of 2 sticks will do DDR400 on there own, but put all 4 together and they only do DDR333

Is this a normal thing?

Because you are booting from Optimized Default. If you have the right bios it should also set the command rate to 2 as well. Yes it is normal. You can of course set the divider to 1:1 manually, you won't be clocking very far though :D

Yep but IIRC it was the Venice core onwards which supported 4 x DDR400 although most motherboards default to DDR333. One I had defaulted to DDR400 until I updated the BIOS to latest and then it defaulted to DDR333 so maybe there's more to it.

Best bet is manually set it to DDR400 and if it causes problems drop it back to DDR333.
