Hey, was just looking at previous invoices and saw my PC is actually 4 years old!!

Still rock solid in terms of stability/perfomance, rocking Nvidia and intel. My previous rigs have all had some element of failure after this time period.

My dad wants a new PC, I said he can have mine, hes happy with it.

Current rig is 4670k 3.4 ghz, 8gb AM, 2GB GTX 670, 600w corsid power supply, 1tb SSD, 1tb HDD, windows 10, z87 mobo.

I see it as having 2 choices:
1. Upgrade this rig
2. Build a new rig

4 years ago this PC was strictly for gaming. However I'm now interested in video editting too so I'm guesing an I7 may be neccessary? given how rock solid this PC has been compared to 2-3 other rigs which have had an amd element and messed up, I'm reluctant to now veer away from them.

Can someone spec me:
1. Upgrades
2. A new rig (preferably including a GTX 1080ti

I've realised if I'm only going to upgrade once every 4 years, investing into the graphics card + procc a bit more than before is probably not a bad shout.

I just tried to process a 4k video in adobe prem and it was long as hell for 2 minutes..!!

Hi,

One upgrade you can do is upgrade to 16GB RAM (assuming you have a 64bit OS) and find a i7 4770K or 4790K etc.

Plus with a GFX card upgrade that should see you going for a few more years.

Hmm I discussed with my dad and he said he'll just take the whole thing and pay me 1k for it. Any chance someone could please spec me for a new build? Say a budget around 1.2-1.5k?

Can stretch got a GTX 1080ti if its worth it.

Or do you think its actually a dumb decision to get a new build?

I like to emulate games on dolphin hence my hesitance going towards AMD... but if its silly to stick with intel.. ?

this video details ryzen playing better with AMD cards (which i have no faith in)
