No brackets - therefore
40+40=80
80x0=0
0+1=1
Equation = 1

Dimple - they may all be liars, but you should still vote. If you don't vote, you have no right to criticize the country about anything![]()
+1 tbh. All you people saying, 'How can you be that dumb?!' (whilst, I assume, masturbating furiously at your own smug intellect), it obviously isn't that simple, some people aren't that good at maths and would go through it step by step.
And with my basic understanding of maths, shouldn't it be 40+(40x0)+1 or something to get 41 as the answer?
Use brackets![]()
yes it is
definitely 41.
What is -3^2 ?
If you are a calculator that doesn't allow you to enter the entire sum in one go then it's 1
If you are a calculator that allows you to enter the entire sum in one go before processing the outcome (a scientific one) then it's 41
No it aint.
The correct answer of 41 has been given many times in this thread:
40+40x0+1
=
40+0+1
=
41
9 and yes 3 ^ 2 is also9.
to negatives make a positive.
now how about some real maths
when does 1 x 1 = 2?
No - 40+(40x0)+1 = 41
40+40x0+1 = 1
One equation has brackets, one does not. You can't just make brackets appear out of thin air.
If there are meant to be brackets - put them in. More to the point - who actually really cares?
Meh
Without wanting to insult thick people, how can people not know BODMAS?
It's pre-GCSE maths! I've filled my head with a lot of **** since then, but even I can still remember it!
