Can anyone recommend a TV that fits the bill? Finding the right one is an absolute nightmare with so many conflicting recommendations in what I read on sites like avforums:(

  • 40-50”
  • Up to ~£1300
  • Deep even blacks which means local dimming, or if this isn’t possible then without the common problems of edge-lit screens
  • Decent viewing angles, preferably an IPS screen
  • Matte finish, as I hate glossy reflective screens
If possible I am also looking for it to have:

  • VGA input or able to turn off the image processing on a HDMI port so I can use it as a monitor
  • Low input lag
  • THX certified? Is this important?
Unfortunately I can’t go plasma and get the Panasonic V20 as I will be using this during the day and will connect it to my PC so would get image burn / IR.

The LG 42LE8900 seems like the perfect fit, but I have heard the screen is very reflective and I can’t find anywhere in London to view it myself to make sure.

Why is the choice for plasma (G20/V20) so clear cut yet for LCD/LED there isn't an obvious choice? :(

Last month I bought a 50" Panasonic Viera with a free blu-ray player and an Onkyo 5.1 surround system for £1300. I'm very very impressed with it.

Think I can say where I got it from? Anyway, it was Currys :p

Sorry, I forgot the model numbers. Should be easy to find in store though.
