I am looking to change my ancient 24 inch lg 16:10 Fullhd monitor with a 4k 40inch or more monitor.
Main usage is PC and console gaming, programming and encoding. I want the extra real estate. Gaming is not competitive, mostly games like witcher 3, might play the odd Dota 2 game and WoW though.
Got 2x vega 56s to use.
If it was year 2015 i would have gotten the philips from that time. Now i am really confused with the BGR situation, I almost went and bought the Philips 436M6VBPAB/00 (momentum) but i have been put off by the reviews about the text.
I was really waiting for the Asus and Acer 43" monitors, and the Asus reviews again seem that the monitor is horrible. For the Acer i cannot find a review anywhere but still i cannot justify that much money. Maybe next year for black friday when it is cheaper.
Is there anything else for around £500ish that would be recommended?
I might actually go for a tv this time and keep the tv later once a proper monitor pops up. I was looking at the Panasonic 40GX800b and a samsung Q60 or whatever its called, both are edge lit though and the sammy especially has horrible issues with the edge light if you are unlucky enough.
Never tried ultra wide either but i am worried the consoles wont like it and i hate black bars when i play games. I would compromise though if the 38" LG was not as expensive as it is.
Thoughts?
