Sorry for cross posting this (also similar thread in AV section) but its turned into something that i think will get a better response in this section.

Basically im looking for a 40" LCD screen to mainly use as a TV. Must be HD (good resolution) have at least 1 scart socket (ideally 2) and DVI so i can connect a PC up. Needs to be good for games and watching films (which is why i changed from my original thoughts of buying a plasma because i didnt want it to get burnt in by playing games/using as PC monitor for long periods of time).

The Sony's look very good but the ones i have seen dont have a DVI input which defeats the object of me getting an LCD over a plasma. Actually most of the 40" LCD's dont seem to have DVI inputs (any idea why this is?)

Any suggestions on a good one to look at?

Thanks a lot, hoping to try and decide on something in the next couple of days so i can get it here for next week :)

The 37" market has more of what you are looking for, providing thats not too small for you.

40" market is new and upcoming, so selection will be limited to a couple of brands.

37 is a bit to small and i have a hard time justfiying it as it isnt a big upgrade from my current TV (i have had to sell this as a TV upgrade and NOT a bigger monitor for my PC that i have already spent way to much money on :) ).

Might have to end up going for a 37 though or spending more for a 40" with a DVI. Just looking through now but product specs arent as good as gettings peoples first hand experience :)

Any there any alternatives to DVI without losing picture quality? I know VGA could be used and on some monitors (smallers ones at least) the VGA can be almost as good as DVI are there any other connections i can look at without having to buy a whole lot more kit? Planning to use a spare PC as a media center as i believe you can upscale DVD's to HD with software.

You can get a 37" 1080 p acer lcd tv now for around £1500 the specification cant be beaten at the mo.

Hmm that looks pretty damn good. If i can convince the other half that a 37" would be worth getting then i will definatly look at that.

At the moment my other option is a Atec AV420W 42".

I hadnt heard of Atec before but they are a Korean company that works very closely with LG/Phillips and use LG panels. Costs less then £1500 with a wall mount and the reviews i have seen so far say its a good screen.

Before you spend good money on a grade b panel (Atec only get Grade B supplied to them) have a look at the Hyundai ImageQuest Q400 40" LCD TV.
It is only listed on the German Hyundai website at the moment (will be on the European one very soon) but the spec is half in English if that helps.
http://www.hyundaiq.de/produkte/Vvuon/Q400/V_Q400.htm

Product uses the Grade A Samsung panel (Same as the top end Sony and top end Samsung), and will be in the UK in limited numbers next week.

Has the added feature of a built in 14-3 Multimedia Player, which you can view your photos, or play back movies.
