£400-500 on new stuff

I'm considering it might be time to build my first computer from scratch since I've got my Windows 7 copy pre-ordered and it might nice to have a new system to use it with.

Anyway, you can see how much I might have to spend in the title, but thankfully I can re-use quite a bit of stuff from my current system.

Things I can salvage are my new Corsair TX650 PSU, XFX4870 1Gb, Blue-Ray and DVD-RW drives, and I have a 750Gb Hitachi Deskstar 7200rpm 32Mb cache which I would probably still use unless you guys think there's something worth the upgrade. I'm good for mouse, keyboard and have a Dell 24" HD monitor.

Basically I'll be needing a case and cooling, motherboard, processor and RAM. I like to be able to play most modern games, but no need for all settings maxed.

Overclocking it would probably hit 4GHz no trouble. Can't see why you would need more than that.

The cooling i recommended should be enough.

What it comes down to is your AMD/Intel preferences.
