I've got a bit of cash available and thinking of setting up a dedicated folder - I apprecate its not a huge amount of cash to spend but its a start and gets me off using my gaming rig as a part time folding machine.

currently I have my spares rig:

q9400 @3.2
8800 gts
4gb ram
800w ocz psu

i'd need to replace at least the gfx card and PSU (the OCZ is just too damn noisy) and might just bin the lot and start again. I wont need a case as I have my old antec P100 that i can recycle.

any suggestions on the best upgrade path? something I can add to later as more cash comes available.

from memory the motherboard is a asus P5Q-e

the PSU i'm pretty sure has a fault, the fan will come on and stay on at max RPM even though the system is cool and plenty of cooling running through it.
It did the same in my gaming rig until i swapped it out and the replacement (a bequiet) never spins up like that.

tbh I'm not a fan of OCZ psu's and for £70 - £80 i'll chuck a new one in.

not bothered about electric cost (but not planning on setting up a server farm!), there's only the wife and I in the house and she's actually quite impressed about f@h. At first she laughed and then I told her about it and how it works and now she's interested in the projects and how it all works.

sorry....took a week off and didnt check the forums, been painting and decorating the wife's room (which i should totally have pinched as a games room for me!)

no, I dont have access to the MM...i need another 830 posts so that aint happening soon.

and planning on buying the bits later this week so i can install over the weekend (once I've finished my painting and decorating duties)
