Had a quick look through various places and come up with the following base unit for >£400 which is to be used for basic office/home use + basic family photo editing.

Windows 7 is accounted for elsewhere.
LCD is accounted for elsewhere.

Anybody care to let me know if there are any bad choices amoungst the following?

i3 3220 (Ivy Bridge) £96
Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V Gen 3, Intel H6 £38
8GB Corsair DDR3 XMS3, PC3-10600 (1333) £34
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 £60
2GB MSI GT 610 £36
500W Corsair Builder Series £46
Samsung SH-S222BB/BEBE 22x DVD±R £13
Silverstone Precision PS05B-USB3.0 £34
Internal Card Reader £5
Child friendly K/board + Mouse £12 - BCL Kiddy Club Keyboard + Mouse
Logitech K120 Keyboard £8
Logitech RX250 Mouse £6

Total: £388 rounded up.

Thanks all.

This thread is redundant for me as the person who had asked me to spec the system has gone out to the big store and bought a HP system for £499

I3 Sandybridge not Ivy
6GB not 8GB
No dedicated GFX

Comes with a 22" LCD (which I could have got for the remaining £115 difference )
