Spec my friend a £400 gaming pc please

I have told him to up his budget but he cant.

He needs everything except operating system and can maybe source mouse and keyboard off myself.

He wanted to buy something off ebay so I told him to avoid!

Thanks

EVGA 500W 80 Plus Power Supply (100-W1-0500-KR) £39.95

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST500DM002) HDD £36.95

Raijintek Aidos Direct Contact CPU Cooler £14.99

Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £13.49

No monitor though :(

I think the best bet is probably to build the PC using the on-board graphics to begin with and then buy a video card when he has more funds available. £400 just isn't enough cash to build a complete new gaming PC IMO especially if you need to include a monitor in that budget! As you can see above even on here without an OS, mouse and keyboard we're struggling to stay in budget!

Otherwise go second hand if he really cant increase his budget.

Hello again, I had another think.

Can get everything, including a monitor for £420 plus delivery if you drop down to an MSI H81M board and 8 GB of 1600MHz Ram and drop the DVD Writer.

MSI H81M-E33 Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £34.99

TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01) £62.99

EVGA 500W 80 Plus Power Supply (100-W1-0500-KR) £39.95

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST500DM002) HDD £36.95

MSI Radeon R7 260X OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £77.99

Asus VS228DE 22" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £79.99

MiSJAH found a better card and a good monitor. I suggested that case as the red ones are out of stock. All in all I kind of agree with Silvagti though, unless he is dead set on all new stuff.

You might be best off getting a combination of the two.

Pick up a cheap i7 920, mobo and memory 2nd hand then build on that.

Taking into account you need a monitor and Windows license included for the £400, it's still a pretty tall order.

*just seen you don't need the OS. Should be doable.
