Hi there,

I'm looking to update the kit i have and was thinking of going quad core this time round. I do a fair bit of photo editing etc and no gaming.

At the moment I'm running an amd x2 3800+ on 2gb ram but want something a little more speedy :)

I'm in the need for a processor, motherboard, ram, psu, and a graphics card which will power 2 screens. I will not be overclocking this rig.

I've come up with the following:

OcUK Huntkey 500W PSU
Asus P5Q Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Gainward ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
2 x GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

cost: £374.75

Any improvements, oh and will the 500w psu be able to handle this?

Cheers

Do not get the huntkey psu, there really bad and they blow up. If you want a cheap reliable psu get the OCZ stealthxstream 500w. It's only £40.

Other than that it looks good.

Maybe for photoediting etc get 4gb of RAM ?

Dunno just guessing lol.. though I've heard people say 4 is better for that kind of thing

OK thanks guys,

i've opted for 4gb on XP Pro 64-bit.

Any comments on the OCZ stealthxstream 500w?

Many thanks
