Hi

Please can you spec my sister a new pc with a budget of £400? We would prefer if it was under £400 as that really is the max she is willing to spend. She uses a TV as a monitor so we won't be needing a monitor and I'm giving her my old 560ti so no GPU needed. She also has 2 hdd's and a dvd drive.

She needs:

CPU
Mobo
RAM
PSU
SSD - Maybe a 60gb if there's enough room in the budget.
Case - No lights and quiet if possible.
Keyboard - Long wire on this if possible, doesn't want wireless.
Mouse - Same as keyboard.

She uses photoshop quite a bit so she would like a CPU that would make it run smoothly.

Cheers

• The i3 is much faster and has Hyperthreading, so thats four threads.

• The PSU is modular, so tidier cable engagement.

• The SSD is much better, especially at writes.

330 vs m4
if you look at the light/heavy workload, they're pretty much the same. would you pay an extra 2 quid for 8gb? i would.
psu is the same as what i specced.
i3+h61 = less upgrade path compared to g840+z77
granted the i3+h61 is a better system now, but getting a z77 = ability drop in an i5k in the future.
up to op to decide i guess

Firstly you had a CX600w in there (ninja edit maybe?);)

Secondly the return rates for the CrucialM4 are far higher than most other SSD's, this is straight from OcUK shop staff;)

The write speeds are much better in the Intel and thats important for Photshop.

The i3 will last so long compared to the Pentium that by the time she does need an upgrade, the Ivybridge route may be long gone and replaced by something else (Haswell?)

:D

ya i ninja edited ;p i clicked the wrong gpu on gpubench so i saw the wrong power reqs lol
return rates = dsr + faulty or just faulty? wasnt the m4 meant to be one of the more reliable drives?
besides isnt photoshop incompressible data, so the sandforce drives would not perform as well anyway

Just something I seen said about the return rates of the M4 vs Samsung and others.

Whats wrong with the Sandforce? my 520series absolutely flies;)
