Hello guys,

I have a friend who is wanting to pay a minimum amount for a gaming computer. Now he is only really wanting to play WoW. So he's looking for the best option, for the best price. He has a case and dvd-drive that are usable.

Any suggestions would be brilliant!

Does he need Windows as well?

This is what i have come up with, add an extra £70 pound for Windows to that.
If he needs Windows i can skimp on a few things to bring the budget to £400 if he cant go above it at all.

If you could push the budget just a little bit more this would be my suggestions. It's basically the same build as RJC's but with RAM thats a little bit cheaper, and a considerably more powerful GPU. It also has the optical drive removed as I notice you already have one.

Always good if the motherboard size/s the case can fit are quoted too. And better yet - which case exactly, as it can have an impact on aftermarket cooler choices, colour coordination etc.

Thank's everyone for posting, it has been really helpful.

Just a quick question BinnsY, the ram you chose, it's listed as 2400mhz, when the mobo reads as "Memory 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory". Is that going to cause a problem?

No it won't be a problem..

When the RAM is installed i'll revert back to 1600mhz. You'll have to 'overclock it' using XMP back up to 2133 mhz.

That RAM is RATED at 2400, which means it'll do any speed upto 2400 with ease.
