Hey guys, firstly can I say thanks to those who helped me with my rig a couple of years ago. Shout-out to Stulid if he's still around!

My dad is looking for a new build around the £400 mark, it will be used mainly for recording music (Cubase) and browsing the web. I'm not aware of how resource hungry recording and editing is likely to be so is £400 a suitable budget? Bearing in mind he was making do with a 5 year old Dell beforehand.

Is a DIY build the way to go here or do OcUk have something that fits the bill?

Many thanks in advance

DIY is always cheaper and I think you can get away with £400 at a squeeze, audio editing is mainly cpu intensive to the best of my knowledge. Il have a look to see if you can squeeze in
overclockable i5 but i doubt you will be able to :(
Is there anything you can salvage from the old pc like the optical drive and hard drive?

This would be nice

Lil over the £400 for the tower. Does include a small SSD to boost loadtimes of the OS and software installed to it and 2TB of storage. There are cheaper cases than the Z9 but that case comes with 4 120mm fans, fan controller and digital temp display....a lot to like for the price :)

If you need an OS,monitor etc we will need to have a rethink

Thanks for the ideas guys. He will be needing an OS but he has a keyboard etc. He also has a hdd he can use as bulk storage, so maybe a ssd would be ideal for windows/cubase only?
