Hello, I'm new to overclockers and not that great at speccing.

Is there any way someone could do me a spec list? It's for my friend, who has four main uses in a prioritised list:

1.internet- casual things etc
2.coding
3.gaming
4.editing

You can go slightly over 400 pounds but not too much.

Many thanks!

Welcome :)
Does he already have a PC or need everything from scratch?
Need an OS? Any peripherals at all (e.g. monitor, keyboard and mouse?)
What type of editing - video or photo?
And finally, what games?
Thanks

Hi,

What parts does he need? OS, keyboard, monitor etc etc?

Tell me what you need and I can do you a spec::)

Ahh yes sorry I forgot. No monitor/OS needed, keyboard and mouse wise I have that sorted. He's gonna be doing all types of editing, I think primarily video though. He's going to be using adobe master collection etc too. Gaming wise, a mix of high end and low end gaming, games like the new borderlands, fc4, ac unity, minecraft all sorts of games. No other peripherals need either.

thanks so much

Adobe master collection, swear I have that on disk somewhere, has everything doesn't it from Photoshop to After effects?

If he can get more money then spend it on a a better GFX card or bigger storage or maybe an SSD.

If any of the applications support OpenCL then you should get a nice boost from the GFX card.

Stock cooler and GTX 660.

Pointer,

That board I used has a 4+1 power design, not good for the bigger Oct core CPU's.

You need something with a stronger design to keep thermal throttling at bay.

Basically these two,
