£400 for RAM Processor and Mobo

I think for people to make good suggestions for this one would need to need what it is going to be used for. If based solely on what you say you want it is not really possible to fit in those three components into 400 pounds seeing that the i7 930 and the cheapest Gigabyte motherboard comes to almost 350. Leaving just 50 pounds for RAM is not going to cut it.
For that budget, the AMD or i5 option would definitely be the way to go. Then you need to make the judgement as to whether your strict budget or your needs or wants is what needs adjusting.

doh, cheers for hte reply Porcelina, I feel that I may as well get the best this time, I always do half arsed upgrades. The PC is a bit of an all rounder, bit of gaming, photoshop work. so if the mobo and chip come to 350, about another 100 for ram?
