Hey,

This is my first time trying to build a computer though I think I have more knowledge on computers than the general person, I hope. Anyway I'm trying to build a half decent gaming computer with a budget of about £400.

Total £400.40 without shipping.

Now this is what I've got so far but I'm not sure if I'm missing anything, like I'm not exactly sure if I need to buy any cables and what fans to buy. I have a spec that I think may not be too bad but I just wanted to see if anyone could make any improvements on it or tell me if I'm missing something, educate me on fans!

I added the 80mm fan because I saw on the comments section for the case I've bought that I needed to get one; though I'm not exactly sure why, apart from to keep the system cooler obviously.

Anyways thanks for any suggestions/help guys,
Cheers!

It looks good, a few things jump out at me though.

The motherboard is a bit over-specced for the i3. a H61 motherboard would be fine and a lot cheaper. Though if you are planing on pgrading to an i5 in the future (and overclocking) the Z68 is a great choice. If you don't want to upgrade to an i5 or overclock the i5, a H61 would be a great choice.

I've not really seen the GPU before and from reading the reviews it doesn't seem like a good buy. If i was you i would go for the 6850, its a great card for under £100.

Thanks man for the advice, I don't plan on upgrading it too soon so I'll get a H61 motherboard and I wasn't sure about the graphics card as I was deciding between the HD6850 and HD6790, I only managed to find one independent review for the power colour hd 6790 which seemed pretty good but in general hd 6850 had far more 'official' & good reviews.

Cheers for the advice man and I will use it!

Well I just had that in mind and so I was tempted to purchase it today as there are deals on the processor and hard drive; I've only just started visiting Overclockers regularly so I'm not sure what the chances of 'better' offers coming up are.

Hence I'll probably just purchase it now to save about £17 and keep my fingers crossed that they don't do a mega 100% of everything sale on Wednesday!

Go for it :)

Will be a very decent system, the 6850s are really good value for money.

It'll come with all the cables you need too.
