Hi, I currently have a ryzen 7 1800x and want an upgrade to get better FPS on rust. I also have an RX 580 8GB and 16GB of 3200mghz ram. If you have any recommendations for a new CPU for me or any new parts for me it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd try to get a 5800X cheap on an auction site, they are being sold for around £300 by some sellers, without a box at the moment (obviously, check seller feedback), a bit more new + boxed. I don't think going from 8>6 CPU cores would be an ideal upgrade.

It's actually one of the best CPUs you can buy (but expensive).

You just need to buy a decent cooler with it, something like a NH-U14S air cooler is recommended to keep the CPU under 80 degrees at full load, but they don't come cheap. You can buy them preowned for ~£40 on auction websites.

It would be a good idea to update your BIOS before installing the new CPU.

Don't get blinded by number of cores.
5800X is equal or better than 3900X in pretty much everything. Even 100% multithreaded stuff like encoding it can keep up thanks to higher IPC. And it can be had under 400.
5600X is also very good option for gaming.

Good advice. 5800X will be considerably faster than 3900X in games especially. 5000 series IPC improvement over 3000 is significant.

Zen 4 out at end of 2022, could just wait for that if 5800X doesn't seem enough of an upgrade. 10nm Alderlake probably coming early 2022, depends if you have to but right now rly.
