Hello,

I brought it over four years ago and have not kept up to date with pc components. It's a Core 2 duo 4300@ 1.80GHz with 4gb ram. I'm mainly looking to upgrade my motherboard, ram and processor.

I recently brought a new power supply (corsair cx500m) and windows 10 retail.

I don't use it much at the moment. But, I want to use it for light general gaming and occasionally working(web development) from home.

I was initially looking at getting this bundle:
Z97-K - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle

But, I'm unsure about whether I should wait because new bundles are coming out on overclocker.co.uk like

8pack-approved-intel-core-i5-6400-4.4ghz-overclocked-quad-core-gaming-bundle-bu-050-asl

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Thank you,

I found my order confirmation email from 2007 and the other components are:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8Ghz LGA775 Processor
  • Asus P5VD2-X LGA775, PCI-E, DDR2, SATA2, 5.1Snd, GBLan, ATX
  • N-880D Silver ATX Case
  • Asus Radeon HD 6670
  • 320Gb Maxtor DiamondMax21 SATAI/II 8Mb Cache HardDrive
  • 1024Mb DDR2 533Mhz Memory Module (x2)
  • Hanns G HW191D 19 Inch Widescreen 5ms TFT Monitor with DVI
  • NEC AD5170A-0B 18X+/-DVD-R Dual Layer Dvd Writer

Initially, I just want to get a new processor, motherboard and ram. then upgrade my other parts. Like SSD etc.

Thank you for your suggestion, take a good look at this bundle.

Also that was a good point about coolers height. I'm unsure of an answer. I have a basic ATX case, so'll I need to do more checking.

Another thing to consider is modern GFX card lengths and whether whatever you want to upgrade to will fit inside your case without hitting the HDD cages.
