£400 upgrade possible?

Hey, just got my hands on the Pulse 9070 and now want to upgrade my system to AM5 for future proof. Currently using a Ryzen 7 5700X, MSI b4560 gaming plus and 32GB corsair vengeance.

Replacing these parts, can it be done for £400 with 7000 series? Looking at motherboards, I'm not sure on the different variants, B650, B850, X670 etc. I do have 1 m.2 SSD and 2 2.5" SSD's.
 
If you only have £400, you're better off keeping what you have, or going for a 5700X3D, because the entry level CPUs like the 7500F or 7600 aren't worth the 'upgrade' from AM4.

You CAN do it, but you're looking at 32GB of memory again (maybe 48GB if you get slower stuff), a 'budget' board and a 7600.

B650 = PCI-E 4.0 graphics, might have 1x PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot.
B650E / B850 = PCI-E 5.0 graphics, will have 1x or more PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot.

X670E = PCI-E 5.0 graphics, more lanes than B650E (e.g. can have 4 or 5 M.2 slots and less likely to have lane sharing).

X870 = PCI-E 5.0 graphics and USB4.
X870E = X670E with USB4.

save your money put it into something else.

Not really. Would you be happy with yourself selling that fuse to someone with dementia? It's literally a con. I wouldn't be able to sell that fuse.

But yeah always something you could spend in the hobby. Or maybe start a new hobby

Well sure, yes, but all things being equal and the person just being too wealthy for their own good and wanting to spend that kind of money on their setup, I'm morally OK with it.

I worked retail for a couple years and some people just want to spend their money to make themselves feel good, even if what they are buying is overkill/unnecessary.

Just for clarity, is that £400 plus resale of the current parts or £400 all in?

It would have been £400 all in, could do bit more but looking and going off what others have said, the 7000 series Ryzen probably isn't worth it. I'll get more cash to play around with. I don't mind waiting as I already have a decent setup.
 
at you budget i would buy a motherboard and ram, stick it under the bed and wait a few week/months(i don't know your finance situation) and grab a 7800x3d latter when budget permits

TBF the 5700x3d is a good call for only £150 your would have a good upgrade if playing games at lower resolutions like 1080p

Running a 5700X with a 9070 and also considered similar.

However, it's a damned efficient little build. I felt there wasn't enough of an uplift from an X3D and am pretty much settled on this until AM6.

At 1440p for me, I have to resign myself to the fact I'm actually happy with my current setup :cry:

And I keep myself several years behind the games I want to play on my pc so this little setup happily plays them.

Trouble is, the more we talk about it the more I'm thinking a 9800X3D, board, ram new PSU and case may not be a bad idea... :cry:

Same for me. Looked at the x3d CPU but wasn't worth the upgrade. I'll probably stick with that I have as it's fine at 1440p.
