£400 upgrade (Spec check)

Hello there,

This will be an upgrade for my brother who currently runs the following:

Athlon 64 3500@stock
1Gb Crucial PC5300 DDR2
Geforce 7600GT

How does this look?

Obviously it will be overclocked. I'm hoping for 3GHz, does this seem feasible?

Also, is there anything above that he should spend more on? Worth spending extra on Ballistix PC5300, an E2160, or a different motherboard perhaps?

All looks good to me, though if your overclocking then I would upgrade the RAM to the Ballistix as you say.

I'd definetly fork out the extra £6 - £8 for the E2160.

looks similar to my spec now. Runs most games nicely!

Yes the ballistix is good ram and overclocks well but the Geil is good also and is faster at stock.

You will get 3ghz ~ 3.2ghz from the E2140 so if you need more then get the E2160.

The Freezer 7 pro is good but not that good, with the amount you would save by buying the E2140 and the Geil you could get a better cooler.

Like i said its good but for a 90-100% overclock it will run hot.
