Looking to upgrade my current system since everything apart from the GPU has been untouched since late 2011 and it's about time I got some new parts. I already have an R9 280X so I'm not looking to upgrade that the minute, although I am looking to change the following:

- CPU (Current is an i5-2500)
- CPU Cooler (Currently stock..)
- Motherboard (Current is a Z68)
- Case
- SSD (Don't have one)

Used for pretty much gaming specifically and obviously browsing the internet. Ideally looking for the best CPU for gaming, and a nice looking case (doesn't have to be a windowed case since I won't be able to see through the window anyway, but I'd like it to have good cooling). Not looking for too much on the SSD part, 128GB one maybe. Don't want a mega expensive motherboard either, just something that'll do the job, since I'd ideally like it to cost as little as possible with a £400 limit.

Thanks for the help!

is your processor a 2500k or just a vanilla 2500?
if it's the k version, you dont really need to 'upgrade' it'll be fine to pair with a 280x

Standard 2500, at the time I was scared of the whole 'overclocking' stuff lol. It feels as though it's lost a lot of its power over the last couple of years though, not sure, so that's why I want to upgrade it to something newer.

ah. shame. seeing as you have access to MM, you could snag yourself a deal or two

ie: a 2nd hand 2500k/3570k for £90-110ish, then sell your 2500 (guessing around £70ish?),
but if you're going for a 3570k, make sure that you update your mobo's bios to support it first
a 240/250/256gb ssd 2nd hand from MM would be £70-80
and then just get whatever cooler (2nd hand if you want) and case you fancy ;p

A used 256GB SSD for £70? Why not get a new one? :P

I'd like to get everything brand new, it'll make my system feel new and fresh. You know, cause I'm 'that guy'

SSDs seem to be a lot cheaper now from when I last looked, so I might as well go for a 256GB one.

Not particularly much, hence people rarely ever say to upgrade to the latest gen from 2nd/3rd or even 1st gen intel CPU's

I think I might go for the 3570K or the 3770K then. Still need some suggestions for a nice looking case with good cooling though!
