My mate is still on an old LGA 775 E7200, 4GB and 8800/something card so looking for an upgrade finally. His PSU blew around 2 years ago which I replaced with OCZ StealthXtream 2 600W version so I reckon I can still keep that along with the case, DVD drives and his Samsung F3 drives. So essentially I'm going to need a new CPU, RAM, motherboard and graphics card along with an SSD for a boot drive to speed things up.

He will use it for occasional gaming, little Photoshop and general browsing around. I've been out of tech for a while so while I can put it together I'm not entirely sure what components to pick for that price so any help would be appreciated!

for 400 quid, go for the pentium anniversary edition and clock it using a cheap z97 board, get standard 1600mhz memory (8gb of it), no need for fancy stuff here and for gpu, 750ti or r9 270 will do nicely... and for ssd, any 128 for around 50£ or 250gb for around 80£

For something completely different, this doesn't cover the SSD though, but gaming performance is high.

They use a titan in the benchmark, but a isn't too far off it. :P

Please note this is a compromised solution. :D
