Hey, my friend wants to build a PC for at least £400.

He won't be doing anything crazy, just for work and a bit of Guild wars.

Should I go for an Intel build or will this be alright? I've heard some good things about the A10 APU.

Does quicker RAM give that much of a performance boost? Or just a few FPS?

Always wondered, but never really came across many benchmarks.

Sorry for the late reply and yeah, what Smoogels said. Does it really make a big difference?

Also what would you personally change with the build apart from the case and HDD?

It does make a difference and keep in mind you are nearly paying the same price for the 1600mhz kit anyway with a worse CAS rating (lower is better).

Mobo has a dual BIOS, 3 year uk warranty. HDD is B grade but has double the capacity and more cache. I'm not a lover of the merc case (I have used it), it's far too basic really. This NZXT isn't a bad budget case, has USB3 and comes with two fans (merc has one).

Case is a personal preference, I'm a fan of the Zalman Z9 U3 (OCuk now stock it YAY) as a starters case. You get a lot of kit for your cash with it. 3 fans (2 led blue), dust filters, large side window, USB3, fan controller, digital temp display......oh and a P4/8 extension for the mobos aux power to help with cable management.

Hope this helps.......i take it you have an optical drive or are installing the OS via USB?
