Hi there

I was in Taiwan and took a quick visit to TeamGroup HQ, recently they have employed veteran overclocker Kevin Wu, a good friend of 8 Packs and I noticed they had a lot of Samsung IC.

I suggested them to do some binning and testing which has yielded some great results to the point we have over 50 kits of 3866MHz memory on the way, some of these kits can even hit 4000MHz Memtest stable with slightly slacker timings. Hugely impressive but even more so the fact this RAM you can actually buy:

In the interests of equality - Do they come in white? :p

I could get some potentially with white heat spreader yes because so far this speed is pretty much a world exclusive for OcUK because I went to the TG office and requested it. :D

Not quite, unless you can afford an F1 car?

I am sure he can considering most days he throws cash around the office, but the F1 car the Police may not like him taking on the road, can't even do track days in it and he really cannot drive. So even if he can afford, no F1 car for Scotti to hotty! :D

Do any motherboards officially support 3866MHz yet?

As far as I'm aware, a limited number of X99 motherboards support 3400, while I think I've seen 3600 for some Z170 motherboards.

Of course they do, how do you think TeamGroup managed to test it?

So yes many Skylake boards can run these higher frequencies, there are quite a few already pushing beyond 4000MHz. :)

I thought memory heat spreaders were like back plates for graphics cards. Ie almost totally for aesthetic purpose's. The voltage and small manufacturing node now mean there is little heat left to dissipate and there's no guarantee that a cheap heat spreader may not even make the situation worse by trapping heat?

Correct, purely aesthetics. :)

Who mentioned Samsung Green? Can't you OCUK guys push samsung for a green DDR4 kit? Samsung would have the entire market nailed for RAM.

Nope, they are supplying IC only, not making any modules for resale, so Samsung Green DDR4 will not exist.
