Hi,

Just come back from hols in france - got some good shots of the tour de france there on the 3rd to last stage but I just cant get the damned thing to connect/get the stuff displayed in Windows Explorer.

This has happened before but I could eventually access them, allbeit very slowly - now it just wont work.

The messages I get are:

(in Windows XP) - sometimes - "USB device not recognised"

The Camera:

"BUSY" - varys time for which it displays - usually goes back onto the camera settings/info screen.
Black - screen just goes black.

This is really annoying me now - yeahyeah I know I could get a card reader but I cant get one atm - any quick soloution?

Cheers

tried a different usb slot?

restarted your pc... camera?

installed any drivers for the camera?

Oh yes, all of the above - sorry for not putting in the first post.

Bit of stuff on the 'net says about confliction with other stuff in the USB slots so I took everything else out - nothing.

I am using a PCI USB card thing as the USB slots on my mobo dont work - could that be a prob?

cheers

Do you have a card reader? if so, try that.

Sounds like a driver problem to me, reinstall the drivers for it and try again.

if the ones are not working on your motherboard,
have you disabled them in BIOS?

also, as said above me, unistall any drivers for it, take it out put it back in then boot windows, when it asks for drivers then do it from there.

if not.. a card reader is probably best. they are a lot faster ;)
and when you have one built into your monitor... its even cooler :P

They didn't work when I first installed it so I left it and used a PCI USB card - I think they're disabled in BIOS atm.

Uninstalled all software + drivers and still get the damned "USB device not recognised" - I click on it - uninstall driver - plug back in - "USB device found......... USB device not recognised" this is driving my crazy

When I first got my card reader I did'nt realise it was for USB 2 only, as computer was a old one with USB1 it would'nt work. Could this be your problem? Check your device manager for exclamation marks especially in the USB listings. USB2 will show as Enhanced Host Controller, if it aint there then thats probably your problem.
You might need to dload a new usb driver.

Well, first off thanks for all the replies, much appreicated. Secondly, I tried it on my sisters laptop and fine... no problems what so ever - I hadn't even had any drivers installed. So transfered photos onto my ipod shoved into my PC and then "USB device not recognised" and all my songs gone =/ A deeper problem, perhaps?

I haven't got a card reader atm but im definatley going to purchase one soon.

Is the camera set to PC Connection in the menu?

How do I do this? I havent done this before and it's worked.
