400w PSU

upgrading within a week now
upgrading to a AMD athlon II x2/x4, or maybe an i3

my question is would my 400w ASUS PSU be enough to power these.

AMD Athlon X2 255 @3.7GHz
2x2 GB ddr3 1600

or

AMD Athlon X4 640 @ stock
2x2GB ddr3 1600

not sure if my PSU will be able to handle it, i will be upgrading it in a few months anyway but would prefere to leave it for now.

anyone got any ideas?

not sure on PSU age, got it off a friend who couldnt use it. definately no older then 4 years, pritty sure its less...

and yes same graphics, when i said i will change the PSU, that will be when i want a new card
 
You have the exact name of the PSU?
It's possible it will power the system, however efficiency changes under load, and you never know, you may only get 300/350W out of it.

Look up the efficiency online, or post name here, if you were to upgrade Graphics Card however, I would definitely think about upgrading PSU also.
