Hello,

I'm starting to use my TV to game more and more these days, which is 4K 120hz, so i'd like to be able to make that a comfortable, smooth experience but also solidly graphically impressive. Obviously staying with Nvidia this leaves me with the 4080/90? Tell me if i'm wrong.

I'm aware of the cost behind that, and perhaps would be looking to only upgrade the GPU on my current PC which is:

Ryzen 3700x
16GB 3600mhz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM
Gigabyte 3080 Gaming OC 12GB
Asus ROG Strix B550-I Mini-ITX mobo
Corsair 750W SF Plat PSU
Lian Li Q58W4 PCIE 4.0

Obviously, the case will need to change, but i'd like to stay reasonably small form factor, within the restrictions of these mammoth cards.

I'm also willing to be recommended some other upgrades to components, or needed changes. I'd like to not spend frivolously but know the high 40 series cards are wildly expensive :)

Cheers

I'm in a similar position with a 3090, but can't stomach the cost of upgrading this generation.

The 4080 isn't enough of a jump for the upgrade cost unless you only play games with RT and framegen etc.

The 4090 will still cost me around a grand with the second hand value of the 3090 factored in.

it's frustrating because clearly i've been bitten by the "look how good cyberpunk can look" bug.

i'm interested nonetheless.

4K at 120hz in latest games will need a Uber highend system. 5800X3D and RX7900XTX might get you close for sane~ish levels money.

definitely not looking to attain 120 fps consistently! just that my tv has the ability for higher refresh rates and something that stays stable even a little north of 60 is nice.
