Hi There,

I have searched for an answer but cannot find out if there is an issue with my graphics card or if it's my setup.

I have a 4080 FE and I have connected two out of the three 8 pin PCIE cables (both are 6+2). These are separate power cables as these do not have a daisy-chain. I am getting no indication that the GPU is working and it's acting as though it's not powered at all. I have tried all combinations of the two connected but no success. I have a 850 watt power supply so I do have the overhead for this.

So, is my GPU dead and should be working on 2 power connectors or do I need all three connected.

All help much appreciated.

Why aren't you using all three?
Have you tried a different combination of the two you are using? Off the top of my head there are 'sensor' wires in a couple of the connectors.

My 4080 is connected with 2 cables and one has a Y splitter to the 3rd connector on the adapter.

I have now found the modular cables and success! It lives!

Unfortunately it has awful coil while! Is there anything I can do or am I stuck? Also is it possibly something for an RMA?

Run it 'testicles alfresco' for 12-24 hours may reduce the coil whine in the inductors significantly.

Do you run a vsync or FPS cap? If I let my 4080 run at 150fps or higher it gets gradually worse cool whine the higher the FPS. Though this has been the case for most GPUs.

Set an FPS cap to test

Panic over! After some gentle application of Furmark things seem to be a lot more reasonable. Thank you everyone for all of your help and time. This thread can be locked if wanted.
