4080 FE or 7900 XTX AIB?

I was pondering doing the same with mine but wasn’t sure if they would accept doing so for coil whine? I haven’t checked the terms etc tbh. Under loads it’s incredibly excessive.
I'll let you know how I get on, I'm within 14 days so that does give me some additional leverage.

Completely pointless having nice quiet fans but the GPU sounds like a geiger counter.

First reply on my RMA request

"Some amount of coil whine is normal. Can you confirm if you can hear the whine with headphones on?"

Of course I can't hear it with my closed back headphones on, just the same as I can't hear my wife nagging me if I put my fingers in my ears, doesn't mean it isn't happening...

Some more videos for listening pleasure

Edit:
RMA approved after I sent the above videos.

I ended up doing a RMA on my 4090 FE for coil whine, interestingly they didn’t ask any questions they just accepted it. On route back to them now. I took some videos before hand just incase they pull any shenanigans.

They've probably got a job lot to send back to Nvidia :p

That's quick, I sent mind in before yours :P

I know that’s what I was thinking haha :D

Hopefully you will hear something soon?

To be honest if I hadn’t read your post I would have just put up with mine. Too much of a push over for my own good some times. A £1600 component should really be whine free.

Oh really! You didn’t ask for a replacement? What will you go for next?

Nah I figured it was a good opportunity to get my money back as I overspent on the GPU for my casual needs. I grabbed a 3080 FE from MM for £480 which has coil whine but not as bad and certainly not something I'm bothered by on a more reasonable expenditure. If I was spending big money on a 4080/4090 I'd want very little whine.

Seems like a good shout. Tbh I don’t need a 4090 given how little I use my PC. Should have settled for something much less extravagant, but couldn’t help myself.

I'd agree that's a much better purchase.
