Currently working out a build for myself to do 1440p 144hz best settings.

Im looking at either the 4080 Super or the 7900XT The amd seems a little lower in power but about £400 cheaper.

Im just wanting to check that i havent misread stuff these cards are of a comparable level arnt they?

Also they are both significantly better than my current RTX 4070 arnt they?

Many thanks as allways.

The 7900 XTX competes with the 4080 Super. The XT is more of a competitor with the 4070 Ti.

Depends on what you mean by "significantly", personally I'd not be dumping anywhere near 1K on a card right now (with new ones due in a few months) when you have a passable one for 1440p already.

Completely agree. While both are a decent chunk faster they cost a lot when factoring in we're approaching a new generation.

I'd stick with what you have for a few months and see what's what when we have more details of the next one. At the very least those cards should be cheaper (or the AMD ones at least, Nvidia don't really drop their prices much of late).

I know GPU prices spiked with scalpers over covid, then Nvidia seemed to just think if people will pay that much we want our cut. I stupidly thought they would normalise again.... yeah. I might just go for AMD on principle, there prices seem far more reasonable for the power.

There are new cards due out? a new "family" of cards or just more of the 4000 and whatever you call the AMD ones?

Nvidia and Intel are a new family of cards, not a refresh (I expect the Super cards will be the last for the 4000 series). Intel have quite a few things to address with their first gen.
AMD: the cards are targeted at the midrange and likely not much different in performance to what we have now (AMD have said they're improving the ray tracing and AI part), but hopefully at better prices.

Intel cards, thats the Arc stuff isnt it. Are they worth looking at?
