4080S to ?

My original Zotac Trinity did spontaneously combust but that's a design feature.

I can't say that I'm surprised TBH.
I would never cheap out on a GPU, and buy a random budget brand like Asrock/Palit/Zotac/Powercolor.

The countless horror stories that I've heard always concrete that point, and if you can afford X model card, then you can afford to buy a proper brand.

I've used Palit for over 20 years for secondary systems and builds for people who want a budget setup, etc. without a single issue, sure they tend to use cheap plastics and aluminium where higher tier brands will use copper, etc. so cooling performance is rarely more than adequate but that is to be expected at the price point.

I've had much worse experiences with ASRock, Asus and even to an extent MSI than I have Palit - that I can recall I've never had a failure with Palit in several dozen bits of hardware, I can't say the same for the others - Asus has been absolutely trash tier (1-2 exceptions aside), despite the prices, in my experience so I've sworn off them.

So please talk me out of it :p
If you can afford a 5090, then you can afford a 4090 with some change. elsewhere has one on buy it now for £1,700.00, they are often on for around this price, but I would pounce on this one because it is an "asus TUF"

from a guy with 100% positive seller feedback, why not? What's your advice?
It wouldn't be to spend 1700 quid on second hand kit when you could buy a 5090FE for a hundred quid more, with a full warranty.

It's not about seller feedback, it's about whether or not it's a good financial move and it most certainly isn't.

What an insane suggestion! A second hand EOL card for £1700 with zero warranty is about as daft a buying decision that anyone could make.
