Has anyone seen any reviews comparing the 40D and the 5D as i'm think about upgrading my body which is currently a 350D. I'm guessing that other than the full frame view finder which would be nice for portrait and landscape i'm guessing that the 40D is generally a better camera (faster auto focus, lower noise at high ISO etc)?

Went into my local photography shop today to try out the 40D and 5D but didn't get much joy. The lady there didn't know how to change any of the settings on the cameras and when i asked about the difference between the two camera was told the main difference was the 40D had liveview and the 5D didn't. After that comment i gave up and left.
With regards to the image quality i would have thought the 14bit colour on the 40D would have given it a slight edge over the 5D in quality but comments above suggest that may not be the case.
At the moment I'm leaning towards the 40D it feels like a substantial upgrade on my current camera. But i keep thinking the 5D is only an extra £300 (if i take into account i can sell my 10-22mm for £300). I will carry on dithering and probably decided as i normally do to keep the cash and stick with my 350D.

I brought a 40D in the end and while it taking a while to work out all the setting it does seem like a massive improvement over my 350D. I particularly like
Larger and brighter view finder
Lower noise at higher ISO levels
Better feel both in terms of build and ergonomics
Large rear screen
Faster autofocus
My menu option - makes changing setting quicker
quality of colour and overall image
bits I'm not keen on
have to buy a new shutter release as it not compatible with my old one.
too many options - why would you need third stops on ISO???
The view finder needs to stick out more as i keep leaving marks where my nose has rested against the rear view screen.
I would have liked the 5D but it just doesn't seem to be worth paying double the price for as there is little difference in image quality. I also don't see the crop sensor disappearing soon as it so much cheaper to make and can offer an image very close to a full frame camera.
