40gb PS3 - need to buy PS2. Monitor Question

Because I cannot play ps2 games on the ps3 I will need to buy a ps2 slim in a few days; however, with the Dell 24" 2407 the component connection is not very good, so what would be the best way to connect my PS2 to this monitor so I do not have to lug my 21" CRT Television from home?

Would it be better to use the monitors - not so good quality - component? Or would it be better to use the S-Video connection that the monitor offers, too?

Give S-Video a chance, but tbh, your best bet is almost certainly with Component.

There's also Composite. To be honest with the PS2 your not really going to see much benefit with getting the S-Video.
