Hi, I'm struggling to get full speeds out of my sky max connection.

I'm seeing between 39 and 41 KB/Sec and nothing more.

Its a wired connection, I've reset the router, Turned the router off for 5 minutes. I'm currently running a spyware scan but am feeling rather negative about the results.

I'm praying I'm not under some sort of shaping\throttling. It's not a P2P problem, Its everything that's slow.

Anyone getting the same problem?

I'm from Yorkshire, So wonder if anyone in my area is problem free

There's no traffic management on Sky max that I'm aware of.
How are you measuring the 40KB/s? It it the sync speed to the exchange or reported by some speed tester? And is this with a wired connection to the router to rule out the wifi as the cause?
If you can log into your router and post your line stats (attenuation, noise margin, sync speed etc.) it would help work out what the situation is.

System Up Time: 0:21:22

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 377 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 57.0 db 29.8 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 17.0 db

-- Those are my router stats.

To test my speeds i used the thinkbroadband test files, All of them, And also ran the skyuser websites speed test. All showed around the same speeds.

The connection is a wired one. :)

Well your line is only synced at 377Kbps down so getting 40KB/sec is about right for that, if your line used to sync higher than that would indicate a possible line fault - something that Sky should report to BT for you.

I defiantely got higher download speeds before, So I wonder how that's changed. This is a pain in the butt lol, As the BT engineer installed a new line just weeks ago, £120 that cost! haha

You've got a really high line attenuation there, which explains the low sync speed. If you're a long way from your exchange there may not be much you can do.
If the router is plugged into an extension socket then I'd try plugging the router into the master socket (and if it's an NTE5 socket remove the front faceplate and plug the router directly into the test socket) and see what the attenuation and sync speed are then. If they improve then it suggests you've got a problem with your extension wiring. If not, it would be worth ruling out a line fault before putting up with it - ring sky to ask if speeds match their predictions based on distance, and maybe ask neighbours what sort of speed they get. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sorry, I don't understand - if it's a new line that's just been put in, then what ISP were you using to compare speeds against, or was that on a different line?

I had the line put in about 3\4 weeks ago. I've had the internet for 2 weeks ish, And the speeds have been fine, It's only yesterday and today that i've had the trouble with download speeds and sync speeds.

I'm going to try the test socket

57dB attenuation isn't good but it isn't that bad. Should still give you about 2-3Mbps. There's definitely some kind of fault there. If it's no better when connected to the test socket, it could well be a line fault that you could report to BT.
