40mm fans?

No actually I haven't but a quicker solution would be to swap the RAM sticks with one of mine. I know my 2 work perfectly and their all the same brand/type.

Why would a RAM error cause a sudden system shutdown with no warning message or any indication something was wrong. Nothing has gone wrong with the system so far.

I assume you've checked in bios, to make sure the shutdown temperature (if configurable) isnt set to something stupidly low (like 60). As you said the chips hitting 58, it vary by a few degrees now and then.

If so, up it to 70, some motherboard allow an audible warning when the heat reaches a set threshold, so you could set the warning at 60. (or 65 whatever you wish)
