Whats the safe Vcore limit on this CPU?

got it at 2.8Ghz @ 1.4v (bios setting) but in cpu-z I get some flactuations up to +0.05.

Whats up?

well, I am on air but will get an amanda or go directly to water with a swiftech kit if temps become a problem.

I was worried as Vcore can kill the CPU or reduce is lifespan.

Assuming temps are under control, shall I consider Vcores up to 1.5? 1.6? safe.

ps: I need the cpu alive for another year lets say :p

cpu lifespans are huge.. you could run it at 1.7+ on phase 24-7 for years.

1.55/1.6 etc are not going to reduce its lifespan noticeably.

personally wouldn't bother with an amanda.. water is always a good idea though ;)

2.8ghz isn't too shabby.. I had a 4400 that wouldn't go over 2.7 even on water.. mind you it was an early one, they seemed to start clocking better as they got older.

i popped my mobo (not sure if cpu went boom aswell)

but at 1.74v my motherboard went bang it couldnt support the power cause it was a pretty cheap-o motherboard.

and the load temps was 60c ish.

so dont go past 1.68v unless you have faith in your mobo :D

that was at 2.95ghz btw

I ll go water I guess cause with my not so good air cooling I have to keep it at 2.6Ghz in order to keep temps below 60C when doing the hardcore dual core Orthos for some hours :p

I ll get the swiftech kit on monday I think and forget about air once and for all

I would suggest maybe just getting a better air cooler and ensure that you have decent ventilation in your case. I'm putting through 1.575v through my x2 3800 and my load temp is about 55 degrees and that's only using Arctic Freezer Pro 64 and my case has 2x 120mm intake, 1x 120mm & 1x 80mm outtake.
